Another shocking change in MotoGP? Lewis Hamilton could be negotiating purchase of Gresini Racing

Rumors surrounding the future of many teams and riders in the MotoGP paddock continue to emerge, with one of the latest surprising many: Lewis Hamilton could be in talks to acquire Gresini Racing, who this morning announced the renewal of Álex Márquez’s contract and who has an agreement with Ducati for the next few years.

According to The-Race.com, multiple sources close to the team indicate that the Formula 1 driver is interested in purchasing the team currently owned by Nadia Padovani, who took over after the death of her husband and founder, Fausto Gresini, in 2021.

A person close to Hamilton is even said to have visited Gresini during the Dutch MotoGP, as the seven-time F1 world champion explores the viability of a possible acquisition.

Hamilton, who will represent Ferrari next year, has his own businesses outside of F1, including Team X44 in Extreme E, a vegan restaurant chain launched in 2019, a film production company (Dawn Apollo Films) and the co- owned by the NFL team, the Denver Broncos. In the past, he also had an agreement with MV Agusta, participating in the design of limited edition motorcycles.

A possible entry for Hamilton into MotoGP as owner of Gresini would allow him to add a potentially very lucrative business to his portfolio with little risk. Gresini is a historic team well established in the paddock, demonstrating its ability to fight for good results.

Over the years, Hamilton has repeatedly said that he follows MotoGP closely and even rode a top-class motorcycle in an event with Valentino Rossi in 2019. Additionally, the F1 driver has loyal sponsors long term who are or have been involved in the premier category of motorcycle racing.
