Alex Marquez has extended his contract with the Gresini team for two more seasons, until 2026.

Alex Marquez will not fail at the Gresini team. Arriving within the Italian team at the start of the 2023 season after having cut his teeth in MotoGP in the fold of Honda, first within the official team in 2021 then at LCR during the following two seasons, the brother cadet of Marc Marquez has found a framework allowing him to flourish on the handlebars of the Ducati. And he will have the opportunity to deepen this because he will not give up his handlebars anytime soon. Indeed, if his brother will join Francesco Bagnaia within the official team of the Italian manufacturer, the native of Cervera will continue his adventure with Gresini for at least two more years. The day after the Dutch Grand Prix, Alex Marquez signed a new contract, committing until the end of the 2026 season with the team founded by the late Fausto Gresini. “Continuing at Gresini was my main goal,” said the person.

A. Marquez: “I know how far we can go”

“Since I landed in this reality, my goal was to be regularly close to the best, and that’s something I haven’t achieved yet,” he added. “The start of the season wasn’t what we hoped for, but the team is strong and I know how far we can go.” For her part, team boss Nadia Padovani sees Alex Marquez as a “student” with whom “the symbiosis between the team and him was incredible from the start and has been consolidated race after race.” “We know what his potential is, he’s already shown it and he just needs continuity,” she added. “Renewing with him was obvious to us because we are aware of his value on and off the track. The results will come, including this year, I’m absolutely certain of that.” » With the departure of Marc Marquez, the Gresini team is looking for a second driver, claiming to have “many options” both in and out of the paddock.
