PSG is looking at a Danish international – Sport.fr

Looking for a very high-level defensive midfielder, PSG now has in its sights someone who is none other than Manuel Ugarte’s replacement at Sporting.

It’s no secret that PSG is looking for a world-class defensive midfielder to replace Manuel Ugarte, who disappointed in the second half of the season. Although still interested in João Neves, the capital club knows that this deal will be very expensive, around 100 million euros. Thus, the Parisian club continues to prospect elsewhere. Another player who catches the eye of the Parisian leaders is Morten Hjulmand.

Currently at Euro 2024 with Denmark, he shone last week with a superb goal scored against England with a beautiful strike from outside the area. Beyond his goal, he has performed very well since the start of the European tournament, reigning supreme in the Danish midfield. Performances in line with what he achieved at Sporting Portugal.

Recruited last summer by the Portuguese team for 18 million euros (plus 3 in bonuses), he came to replace… Manuel Ugarte, who left for PSG for 60 million euros. Hjulmand has established himself as an undisputed starter in the Leões midfield, with whom he was champion of Portugal.

The 24-year-old Danish defensive midfielder is already being tracked by many clubs. Manchester United, Tottenham and Barça are said to be on the trail of the former Lecce player. Under contract until June 2028, Morten Hjulmand has a release clause set at €80 million. A sum lower than that requested for Joao Neves, but PSG know that they will have to pay a lot of money for the 1m85 player, especially since the competition should not weaken if he continues to shine with the Danish selection during the Euro.
