Mercato: Cherki towards Dortmund, PSG is angry with the Mbappé clan

While PSG had reached an agreement with OL and Rayan Cherki, the latter should ultimately leave OL for Borussia Dortmund. An about-face that PSG attributes to the Mbappé clan, who represent Lyon’s hope.

In search of a right-winger to play on the left, PSG is also looking for a more versatile attacking player this summer and had set its sights on Rayan Cherki, OL’s great hope, who is struggling to confirm his full potential. A first Parisian offer had even been sent to OL on June 19th for an amount of €12 million plus €3 million in bonuses. A file that had not been talked about much in recent days.

But Rayan Cherki is finally no longer heading towards PSG, but towards Borussia Dortmund, according to the entire French press. The German club should align itself with PSG’s proposal and thus offer €15 million to OL, but would have especially convinced the player, represented by the Mbappé clan for several months.

According to L’Equipe, which provides the most details on Cherki’s turnaround, OL had reached an agreement with PSG for a transfer of €15 million and the 20-year-old player had also said yes to PSG. But according to the sports daily, negotiations stalled over Cherki’s interest in his transfer, which OL allegedly neglected to include in the discussions.

How Dortmund reportedly convinced Cherki

A complication which allowed Borussia Dortmund to return to the match and convince Rayan Cherki, by offering him a different career plan (making him grow and not blocking, in the long term, a possible transfer), number 10 as well as more of playing time. Dortmund would offer a lower salary than that which he would have received at PSG, “but contractually, Cherki could be less blocked, in the perspective of a future transfer, than if he had chosen Paris”says the newspaper.

These arguments visibly hit the mark, to the great dismay of PSG, who attributes this about-face to the player’s entourage, with whom he has had complicated relations for months. In Germany, the press confirms Dortmund’s interest in Cherki, but remains a little more cautious at this stage, like Sky Sport and Ruhr Nachrichten, who assure that there are not yet concrete negotiations between the parties and even less of an imminent agreement.

The Parisian adds for his part that another German club qualified for the Champions League is still in ambush. According to LoÏc Tanzi, from the newspaper L’Equipe, it is Bayern Munich.
