Third in the Polish rally this Sunday, Adrien Fourmaux assured that he has seen progress in his driving and does not intend to rule out aiming for a victory in the WRC.

Adrien Fourmaux made the three pass. After taking third place in Sweden then in Kenya, the French driver scored a new podium this Sunday in Poland, behind Kalle Rovanperä and Elfyn Evans. An event that the Ford M-Sport driver did not approach with maximum confidence, he who was competing on this rally for the first time. “I am very happy because it was my first participation in this event,” he recalled in comments collected by the daily The team. I had to take all the notes in reconnaissance, I was discovering the terrain and I didn’t have a very good position on the road because I found myself third after Ott Tänak’s retirement.” The Seclin native nevertheless regrets a lack of performance when he had to cover a timed sector for the second time. “I didn’t manage to find the right settings to go fast in these ‘rails’, he explained. I fumbled a bit, I have to win in these conditions, we’re going to work on that so that it doesn’t happen again.”

Fourmaux: “One day, it will smile!”

Despite everything, Adrien Fourmaux does not hide the fact that “it’s a great podium”, which does not have the same flavor as the two previous ones, he who knew how to attack from start to finish. “We’re having a great rally, we’re fifteen hundredths per kilometer behind Kalle Rovanperä, who won the rally, assured the Tricolore. I wouldn’t have believed it before, I was expecting double. We showed that we were there, it’s super positive. It’s the first time that I’ve set a really big pace over three days.” Beyond the settings tested on the simulator, Adrien Fourmaux assures that he has “found something” concerning the driving of his Ford Fiesta Rally1 but above all that he has “understood things” that he intends to exploit during the Latvia rally, on which all the drivers will start “from zero in terms of rally knowledge”. From there to believing in a first victory in WRC? Adrien Fourmaux does not want to rule it out. “I think so,” he answered this question. Friday, being third on the road we finish the day fourth, fourteen seconds behind the leader! One day, it will smile! We have to believe in it and I am starting to look at this first step.” To do this, the French driver will have to seize the opportunities when they present themselves.
