The greatest chance in the department is Aigrefeuillaise Nathalie Barriquand, 49 years old. The Charente-Maritime record holder for the half-marathon (1h18min52s) and marathon (2h48min01s) finished in 5th place (3rd French) last year in 2h48min10s, very close to her personal best from 2019. This year- there, the English teacher had even completed the La Rochelle marathon in 4th place and in the more unofficial place of best tricolor in the event. After a final semi in Vendée at the beginning of November – 1h19min56s – the US Aigrefeuille athlete is aiming for a new place of honor, even if the wind risks thwarting the chronometric plans.
Urcun, the best referenced
Three other Maritimes will try to do well. Véronique Guerry (ASPTT La Rochelle) had established a new personal best last year (12th female in 3h01’21”), just ahead of two members of La Rochelle Triathlon, Jessica Leroux (15th in 3h01’31”) and Adeline Beauchet (18th in 3h04’34”).
Among the men, we have to look at the athlete from La Gripperie-Saint-Symphorien, Damien Urcun (39th in 2h34min11s in 2023), to find the Maritime best referenced among those registered. This year, the 47-year-old athlete notably finished in 7th place in the Zaragoza marathon (Spain) in 2h36min52s, after beating his record on the La Rochelle half in 1h11min55s.
