Even if qualifying for the Coupe de France was good for the morale of the troops, the GF38 has not forgotten the difficulties encountered in recent weeks in the championship. Oswald Tanchot’s men have only taken one point in their last four outings in Ligue 2.
First think about maintaining
The ranking of this Ligue 2 is extremely tight since Troyes, 16th, is only three points behind the Isérois, who appear in the first part of the table. Friday’s meeting at the Aube stadium is therefore important and GF coach Oswald Tanchot reiterates the priorities: “There is no room for complacency or approximations. We have no margin, that brings us back to the reality of our championship. Like many teams, we are here to fight for maintenance and if possible with content, pleasure and things that attract people. But the reality is that the GF38 first wants to take its points for maintenance. Like 15 or 16 teams. This is the story of our championship, it will be like this all season. You have to stay very calm when things aren’t going well, and work on the team’s resources. We must not invent problems when there are none but also be very objective about our strengths. We need to be very solid to win matches because our team doesn’t create a lot of chances. We need to have away matches where we are much more airtight because for the moment that is not the case. We know all that”, says the Isère coach.
Troyes is in good shape
Opposite, ESTAC had a very bad start to the season but has been doing much better for a month. Troyes remains in fact on three victories and a draw in the championship and can return to the level of GF38 in the event of success this Friday evening.
