The Jacques-Cartier: 100 years of history

The year 2025 will mark the hundredth anniversary of Canada’s first French-speaking curling club. Consequently, numerous activities will take place throughout the year to mark this event. The first on the agenda is the official launch of the book The Jacques-Cartier: 100 years of history, which will be performed today at the club (by invitation). This 180-page book by the author Jean Boivin, emblematic figure of Quebec curling and involved in the sport for more than 60 years, offers a fascinating journey through time, from the arrival of curling by the Scots in the 19the century until the founding of the Jacques-Cartier Club in 1925 in Victoria Park in Quebec. The story, supported by around fifty photos, follows the evolution of the club, its move in 1944 to rue Saint-Cyrille, and its major transformations, notably the addition of ice slopes and the transition to the status of an independent organization. non-profit. Jean Boivin also relates the challenges encountered by the club, the resumption of attendance, and pays tribute to the members who won Quebec and national championships.
