Galatasaray lost at the AOK Stadion against Wolfsburg (5-0) on Wednesday evening during the fourth day of the group stages of the Women’s Champions League. With four defeats in four outings, Hapsatou’s partners Malado Diallo are already eliminated.
Galatasaray was condemned to a real feat this Wednesday evening in Germany to avoid elimination. Against Wolfsburg, the Turks had to make up for their heavy defeat suffered in the first leg (0-5) by winning on the German pitch. Much easier said than done, though. At the AOK Stadion, in Lower Saxony, Metin Ülgen’s players were again defeated by the same score (5-0).
A difficult group for Galatasaray
On the Galatasaray side, Senegalese striker Hapsatou Malado Diallo still started but was taken off at the end of the first period. A one-sided first period, where Alexandra Popp shone with a double (3rd, 15th) and an assist for Janina Minge (31st). The recital from Popp continued after the break, with a hat-trick (88th) and a new pass for Lena Lattwein at the end of the match (90th + 6).
Beaten by Olympique Lyonnais (0-3) then by AS Roma (1-6) during its first two group matches, and now by Wolfsburg twice, Galatasaray is therefore eliminated from this Women’s Champions League. But for their first participation in the competition, Hapsatou Malado Diallo and his partners have nothing to be ashamed of this journey in a group, as you will have understood, very complicated.
