Brendan Gallagher became a member of the Montreal Canadiens in June 2010, having heard his name at the 147th level. Gally began his career with the Habs during the 2012-13 campaign, after 36 games (20 points) with the Hamilton Bulldogs. During his first season with the big club, he impressed the gallery with 28 points, including 15 goals, in 44 games.
Since then, the little number 11 and his abrasive side have written a long chapter of 771 matches (436 points), making him the current blue-white-red player with the most seniority. The diminutive 5 foot 9 striker is certainly very proud of this fact, he who still proudly puts on his jersey today.
“I am very proud to wear this jersey, I have not forgotten it. I’ve been here a long time. I want to continue playing, representing this city, this jersey. I’m very proud of it, that’s for sure.” – Gallagher
I know it’s easy to criticize Gallagher because of the outrageous contract he got (6 years, $39 million) from Marc Bergevin. But, aside from this point, I prefer to put this question aside and instead adore his passion, commitment, dedication and hard work.
Let’s be proud. Let us rejoice for number 11, who is involved with great ardor in each presence. A tireless job that allows him to still perform today, even at 32 years old and a body that is 55 years old. His eight goals and two assists in 19 games are no small thing, since it allows him to rank third among CH scorers since the start of the season.
Let us all thank him together for the proud services rendered to the Montreal Canadiens!
