It’s still a huge project. But in a few months, a brand new building will rise on Route de Saint-Brieuc, along the D29, in Pacé. On the first floor, a new gym will take place with one objective: “to offer a modern and friendly fitness space”, announces Antoine Gigory. This professional firefighter, sports enthusiast, and his partner Solène Breton, human resources manager, took the gamble of opening their own club in the metropolis of Rennes.
A sports couple
“As a military firefighter, your career ends after 20 years. I’ve been doing this for 16 years already,” explains the thirty-year-old from Montauban-de-Bretagne. It was therefore to prepare for the sequel that Antoine Gigory began to think.
The sport appeared naturally. “Solene is triathlete, she ran the Rennes half-marathon. I did it three times marathon from Rennes and we do all the little errands around,” explains the manager.
The decision is therefore made: the couple will open their gym under the Franchise Gigafit. “Even if we have to respect certain rules such as the graphic charter, we remain quite free. For example, we were able to call on local businesses for the work. That’s why we went to this brand. » It is also “the design” and the “high-end” services that appealed to the duo.
A space for children and group lessons
“Here, this will be the entrance with the reception,” describes Antoine Gigory, showing the frame of the future door. From here “mid-February beginning of March 2025”, the work will be completed and the room will be ready to welcome customers.
For now, we have to project ourselves a little further, between the perforated walls and the concrete slab on the ground. The spacious surface will be delimited into different zones: “the space cardio, the zone crossfit et boxing with punching bags and there, it will be for the guided bodybuilding and the free bodybuilding”, continues the manager.
And studio biking will also be fitted out as well as a room dedicated to group lesson “LesMills, a guarantee of quality”. All with “high-end machines, released in 2024”.
And relaxation area with coffees, smoothies and nutrition shots has also been thought of, without forgetting the changing rooms and toilets.
But the particularity of Pacé’s future Gigafit is found in another area of the room. “It will be a children’s area, at 6m2 fully glazed so that parents can monitor them while doing their sport in the cardio zone. » Games for children aged 3 to 10 will be made available.
We do not want parenthood to be a hindrance for young sports parents or those who wish to (re)start sport.
“It’s a good novelty, in Rennes, no one offers that,” rejoices Antoine Gigory.
A formula for students
It is therefore a “chic” gym that Solène Breton and Antoine Gigory want to design. “The design is really beautiful with all the walls painted black, neon lights, metal, concrete and perforated sheet metal elements,” the manager projects.
A way to stand out from other clubs already existing in the metropolis. The couple also counts on “competitive rates”, with subscriptions to 30, 40 and 50 euros the four weeks. A formula to reduced price will also be implemented for students.
Other formulas allowing you to subscribe monthly or to make health checks are also planned.
“We also want it to be warm. I am a firefighter, I like helping others, like Solène who likes human contact,” emphasizes Antoine Gigory. They will be supported by two sports coaches, one of whom has already been recruited, and two work-study students.
See you at the beginning of 2025 for the opening, but the pre-registrations are already open. “We will be present on the Pacé market to carry out pre-sales on Wednesday November 20, as well as Wednesday December 4, 11 and 18. »
Gigafit, 2 rue d’Armor, ZA Nominoë, in Pacé. Opening in early 2025. To follow the progress of the work, go to the room’s Instagram account.
