The Alpine team formalizes the extension of Pierre Gasly for several years

As expected, Pierre Gasly was officially confirmed Thursday by the Alpine team for several seasons, without specifying the exact duration. The Norman started his lease with the French team at the start of last season, finding a seat following the unplanned departures of Fernando Alonso then Oscar Piastri. While the team is in the process of restructuring, this year will bring a little stability. Gasly, 28, has 32 Grand Prix starts at the wheel of an Alpine with a third place best result at last summer’s Dutch Grand Prix. In total, he has competed in 140 GPs with one victory (Italy 2020 with Alpha Tauri) and four podiums in total.

“I really feel at home in this great team, said the Norman in the team press release. I enjoy being an integral part of both the Formula 1 project and the wider vision of Alpine Cars. I have been there officially for more than eighteen months and the goal has always been to build for the long term with the team. Although the track season has been difficult so far, I remain faithful to the project. I am happy with the changes made, the hard work and the direction the team is taking. » For his part, Bruno Famin, the main team of Alpine, underlined: “Pierre is a driver with a wealth of experience in Formula 1 and he continues to show enormous potential on track. He is a fantastic ambassador for the Alpine brand. »

On the other hand, no formalization regarding Carlos Sainz, announced as approaching the French team (after having been very close to signing with Williams). “The team will announce Pierre’s teammate for the 2025 season in due course.”notes the press release while Famin added: “We will take our time choosing Pierre’s teammate and we are excited about the options available to us. »
