Alex Morgan is not on the American roster for the Paris Olympic Games this summer.
This will be the first time since the 2008 Games that Morgan has not represented his country in a major tournament on the international stage.
“I am disappointed today not to have the chance to represent my country on the international stage for the Games,” Morgan said in a social media post. This tournament will always be dear to my heart and I feel immense pride when I put on the uniform. »
“In less than a month, I will be supporting this team,” she added.
Head coach Emma Hayes named her 18-player roster that does not include the one that has scored 123 goals, a record among active American players. She comes fifth in this chapter in the history of the program.
Hayes still turned to other experienced players for this Olympic participation with goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher, captain Lindsey Horan, and Crystal Dunn.
