Tuesday October 29, 2024, in front of around twenty volunteer residents of the Gerontological Accommodation and Support Center (CHAG) in Pacy-sur-Eure (Eure) where she is a nurse, Aude Buisson shared her enthusiasm for the great adventure in which she will soon participate, supported by the CHAG entertainment team and the director of the establishment, Jérôme Triquet. This great adventure is the Amazon Raid, a unique event, the only adventure raid 100% feminine organized each year in a different country.

Head to Cambodia

Created in 2001 by Alexandre Debannefollowing a serious motorcycle accident which changed her outlook on life, this raid aims to bring together women from all backgrounds – sporty or not, able-bodied or disabled – to experience moments of mutual aid and sharing. This militant raid crosses regions, in which local women often feel underestimated. By running alongside the participants, they are highlighted and recognized for their strength and resilience. During six daysparticipants will take on sporting challenges while discovering the local culture and interacting with the population. This year, the raid will take place at Cambodia.

A mother-daughter challenge

Aude Buisson, 29, makes a point of combining sport, adventure and solidarity. She chose to support the association Alzheimer 27raising funds for this cause which is close to his heart. The residents present were captivated by her presentation and asked many questions about her motivations and the challenges she is preparing to take on. Like Mr. Fournier, who praised Aude’s “gentleness and perseverance”.

Sponsor

The Raid Amazones supports the association À each son Everest and, depending on the needs encountered, implements concrete actions, in particular for the education of children by providing school supplies.
The registration cost for each team is €4,200, financed through sponsors and fundraising activities. Participants also undertake to offer gifts to children in the host country.
To support the Phénix Amazones, an online prize pool is open.

Speaking about her commitment, Aude shared how two years ago, she was looking for a meaningful gift for her mother. She proposed an unforgettable mother-daughter adventure, strengthening their bond while supporting a noble cause.

Participating in this raid is for me a way of giving meaning to my professional commitment and contributing to a cause that particularly affects me

Their team is called Les Phénix Amazones, in homage to the mythical animal that is reborn from its ashes.

Since its creation in 2001, the Raid has allowed thousands of women to reveal themselves through events such as mountain biking, canoeing, archery and many other challenges in total immersion in nature… without means of communication, “I will turn off my phone in order to fully enjoy the adventure and the meetings with the Cambodians”. But she will take the CHAG residents on a trip with her, she announced to them, in her camelbackthis hydration backpack designed especially for adventurers. “A photo of all the residents will follow me to keep them in my heart during the ordeal.”

For Aude Buisson, this raid is a life challenge and represents a real opportunity to support the France Alzheimer 27 association while Valérie, her mother, will support the Breton association EndoBreizh. “It’s a great initiative which shows to what extent our health professionals are committed, even beyond their daily jobs,” admires the CHAG animation manager, Alexandra Quesnes.

The values of the Raid Amazones – solidarity, mutual aid, surpassing oneself – particularly resonate with the objectives of the Pacy-sur-Eure retirement home. Residents, invited to follow his journey, showed him pride and support. After the Raid, the trip will give rise to workshops, discussions and sharing.

Aude Buisson is determined to take up the challenge, convinced that this trip is much more than just a trip, but an opportunity to make a difference. Let’s go for adventure!
