MotoGP, at KTM they are always so direct: “either Augusto Fernandez achieved extraordinary performances or it was over for him and he knew it”

Hubert Trunkenpolz, member of the board of directors of Pierer Mobility, admitted that Augusto Fernández knew from the start that it would be difficult to keep his handlebars at KTM. In a brief interview, Trunkenpolz addressed the situation of Augusto Fernandez, who has already lost his place at KTM for next year, as has Australian rider Jack Miller.

For 2025, the Austrian brand’s teams will be made up of Brad Binder et Pedro Acosta for Red Bull KTM, as well as Maverick Viñales et Enea Bastianini for Tech3 KTM. Brad and Pedro will continue for another year, with Pedro making his debut for the official team, while Enea and Maverick will debut on the RC16 and adapt to their new bike.

The first words read on motosan from
Hubert Trunkenpolz aboutAugusto Fernandez were direct: “ It was clear before this season that if Augusto didn’t improve significantly, it wouldn’t work for him in 2025.
We don’t mince our words. It was always clear. Either Augusto delivered something quite extraordinary in the first races of 2024, or it was over. That’s how it is and he knew it

« At KTM we believed in Augusto Fernandez »

Pit Beirerdirector of KTMalso spoke about Fernandez after one of the first podiums of Pedro Acosta this year, praising the achievements of the Majorcan. In principle, Augusto is Moto2 world champion, which is already a great honor in this sport. It was clear to everyone that Augusto might not have the same ‘boom’ in the MotoGP World Championship as Pedro Acosta. But you don’t get it for free fourth place in the French Grand Prix at Le Mans 2023. And of course we built on his success in Moto2 and believed in him. »

Despite difficulties, Augusto Fernandez proved his worth with a solid fourth place at the 2023 French Grand Prix, demonstrating that he can compete at the highest level. However, KTM has chosen to turn to new talents for the future, leaving
Fernandez et Miller look for new opportunities for next season.
