With its draw against Poland (1-1) and second place in Group D, the French team has fallen into the theoretically toughest half of the table in Euro 2024. An insane run could await the Blues in their quest for a continental coronation.

A small mistake that changes everything or almost everything. Author of a slight foul on Karol Swiderski, Dayot Upamecano allowed Robert Lewandowski to equalize from the penalty spot against France. On arrival, the Blues were content with a draw against Poland (1-1) and finished in second place in Group D behind the surprising Austrian team.

A poor performance – to be put into perspective – which sends the Blues into the toughest part of the table (on paper) of this Euro 2024 in Germany. This could complicate the task, or offer a fabulous epic, to Kylian Mbappé’s partners until a possible final.

Very heavy until the final for the Blues?

After a round of 16 match against the second in Group E and therefore potentially against Belgium (or Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine), the Blues could therefore be entitled to a reunion with Portugal in the quarter-finals. Favorites in their eighth against a third in the group, Cristiano Ronaldo and his team will still be keen to shatter the blue dream after their victory in the Euro 2016 final.

Even in the event of qualification against the Lusitanians, things would not get better for France who would risk facing Spain or Germany in the semi-final. A choice between a Roja author of a flawless performance in the group of death against Albania, Croatia and Italy, and a host country which finished the groups with a fiery attack (eight goals).

During a possible final, on July 14 in Berlin, the Blues could complete their death table with a duel against England and the Three Lions determined to forget their final lost at Wembley in 2021 and their defeat against the France at the 2022 World Cup. But all this, for now, is just theory.
