Togo will be absent from the next African Cup of Nations. A 4th consecutive continental mass, in which the Sparrowhawks will not participate.
At a press conference at the end of the match against Equatorial Guinea, Nibombé Daré spoke about his future at the head of the Togo Sparrowhawks.
“It’s better to talk about what happened this afternoon than to talk about my future. That doesn’t count. We will have to ensure that all the problems our football is experiencing, that we can find a solution and no longer experience such situations. 4 CAN at home, the mission was not easy. Whether it’s me or anyone else, it doesn’t matter.”he told the press.
On the results of Togo’s participation in these qualifiers, the former defender harbors regrets.
“There was room to do something good but we lacked success”lamented the Togo coach. According to him, it is time to turn the page on these qualifiers and think about the qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 CAN.
“We will be watching at the start of the championship. There are players whose progress we will follow and see how to expand the squad”.
Togo finished 3rd in Group E with 05 points, behind Algeria (16 points), Equatorial Guinea (08 points) and ahead of Liberia (04 points).
