“It’s a special match” for Gigio Donnarumma. The Italian international goalkeeper will indeed play against his adopted country, France, this Sunday (8:45 p.m.), in the League of Nations. A French team made up of several of his teammates at Paris Saint-Germain. “We joked about it before the international break. We will be enemies for the duration of a match but there will be a lot of respect”declared the former Milanese, who will also have the opportunity to return to the stadium where he made his professional debut at 15, San Siro. Another reason why this match will be special for him. And this even if AC Milan supporters no longer hold him in their hearts since his departure for France in 2021… During his last match in Milan, at the end of 2023, in C1, he was coldly received. Still, Donnarumma, present at a press conference this Saturday, on the eve of this Italy-France of the sixth day of the League of Nations, notably confided his relief to see Kylian Mbappé, his former partner in Paris, among the absent tricolors. “I don’t know what’s going on with the other teams. I don’t know what happened, it’s certainly a significant absence”he declared. And to add: “I know Kylian, he is one of the best in the world and if he had been there, he could have put us in difficulty, but there will be other players”.
