The announcement created astonishment on social networks. In a Facebook post published Friday November 15, 2024, the manager of the pizzeria La main à la pâte in Trégunc, near Concarneau (Finistère) announced the permanent closure of the restaurant, the same evening.
“We had already known for a while that the pizzeria was not in good shape because of all our problems with the distributors”explains Cyrille Auffret, expressing his emotion. Not wishing “go into details”the pizza maker reports a “very hard decision to take”.
“We tried everything until the last moment to save the pizzeria but it was a losing battle”he assures, less than a month after being crowned world pizza champion, in a duo with the starred chef of Ar Men Du de Névez.

Cyrille Auffret and his wife opened their establishment in the town of Trégunc in 2020, two weeks before confinement. “This pizzeria where I saw my daughter take her first steps”he remembers on social networks, confident that he cannot “hold back tears”and regret having wanted to develop “by distributors”.
As soon as the announcement was published, numerous messages of support poured in. Several customers, loyal and moved, offering to open an online kitty.
Requested by West Francethe managers of La Main à la pâte did not follow up.
