This Saturday, November 16, the 7th round of the French Cup takes place and with it, the entry into the running of the big teams, the Ligue 2 clubs. And the great poster in Alsace, it is the FCSR Obernai which welcomes the FC Metz at 1:45 p.m. at the Colombière stadium.

A regional 2 against a league 2, i.e. 5 divisions apart, and a great challenge for the little Alsatian, since welcoming a professional team is a first in the history of the club.

And this, in a full stadium obviously, since the 3,000 seats in the stadium were sold in three short days. Enough to put pressure on, but also undoubtedly boost the players of Obernai, a century-old club and resident of the high regional level for many years.

Obernai is also undefeated in all competitions since the beginning of October and occupies 5th place in its regional 2 group. That’s good, you’ll need to be in good shape to face the ogre Metz, 4th in Ligue 2 and used to good runs in Coupe de France with four 1/8th finals in the last 10 years.

150 tickets reserved for Metz supporters were put back on sale, the latter having finally given up coming in view of the prefectural decrees restricting their travel. A relief for the organizers who feared clashes with supporters, given the historic rivalry between Metz and the RCSA.

The club also pulled out all the stops with 100 to 150 volunteers deployed to make this match a great football celebration, to be seen on Ici Alsace, Ici Lorraine and on france.tv from 1:35 p.m.
