The LABC learned, at the beginning of June, that it would not play in Nationale 1, for the 2024/2025 season, due to a lack of stability of its cash flow. The president of the club appealed this decision of the management committee of the National Basketball League and does not seem worried.

On April 13, 2024, LABC played its last match of the season against Annemasse. Limoges won the match 74 to 57, and a moving ceremony followed to say goodbye to two players leaving the team, in the presence of the public.

Cassandre Blanchon retired and Samantha Peytour flew to a league 2 club.

We have a lot of affection for each other and it showed in little touches throughout the year. There were slightly tougher moments in a season. Everyone made the effort to take it upon themselves and it never broke down. This is where we see that the teams like each other.

The LABC has the particularity of promoting values of solidarity and sharing.

Before entering the field, the girls high-five everyone within reach, including journalists.

The public and the sponsors are not mistaken.

In the 2022-2023 season, the club’s payroll increased. The revenues did not follow. The LABC then went through a crisis which led to the departure of the former president, Jean-Paul Robert.

Christophe Sémavoine, new president of the club, does not wish to reveal the amount of the deficit, but ensures that he is able to honor all the players’ salaries and pay suppliers.

Agents and players have been informed of the situation. Everyone follows us because we have shown our ability to unite around the project.

President of LABC

The management committee of the National Basketball League has, however, decided not to re-engage the club in Nationale 1 next year, due to a lack of stability of its cash flow.

Christophe Sémavoine has decided to appeal this decision, and assures that this cash flow will be stable again in the coming months: “We need to reassure the management commission, because the LABC will function completely well next year.”

Sylvie Rozette, deputy mayor of Limoges in charge of sports, notes that “in this N1 women’s championship, 3/4 of the clubs are having difficulties”.

The LABC will be received by the management committee on Tuesday June 25, 2024 at 12:10 p.m.

Christophe Sémavoine is determined to provide documents tending to reassure the financiers of the DNCCG: “I have gathered documents which demonstrate that the LABC will turn around. All our partners continue to follow us, the city of Limoges as well as the private sponsors. Some will even increase their participation. And I remind you that upon my arrival at the club, I reduced the charges by 22% We just need a little more time to make up the deficit.

Sylvie Rozette has no concerns about the future of LABC in Nationale 1: “The new president clearly has a complicated legacy to manage. He is doing a lot of restructuring work and the lights will quickly be green.”
