Enough to keep the controversy going. TPMP, the flagship show of C8 hosted by Cyril Hanouna, made its return this Friday, September 13 for a new live episode. True to its format, the talk show reviewed the current news, addressing varied subjects such as news items, celebrity news, politics and sports.

Among the topics discussed tonight, a tragic news item: the fatal accident involving rapper Koba LaD. Gilles Verdez and Cyril Hanouna discussed the circumstances of the event, some of which have become clearer in recent hours, and its possible legal consequences for the artist.

Political news was not left out with the return to the tense exchange between the European deputy Sarah Knafo and a journalist from LCI. Faced with the comment of Jean-Baptiste Boursier on the results of the Reconquête party in the legislative elections, the young deputy had indeed appeared somewhat annoyed.

Cyril Hanouna then gave the floor to Fabien Lecoeuvre for an overview of the latest celebrity news. Among the topics discussed, the sale of David Guetta’s luxury apartment in Miami caught the attention, particularly because of its record price. Another celebrity news item discussed: Brigitte Macron’s surprise appearance in the new season of the Netflix series “Emily in Paris”. The show also discussed the organization of a mass in tribute to Alain Delon, while addressing the recent family controversies surrounding the actor, in particular the controversy surrounding the interview with Hiromi Rollin, the woman who was long considered the companion of the French cinema icon, in “Envoyé spécial” on September 12.

A highlight of the show was the broadcast of a video excerpt showing an exchange between Emmanuel Macron and a citizen during a trip to Le Havre. In this sequence, the President of the Republic was questioned about his decision to dissolve the National Assembly and the results of the legislative elections. The citizen expressed his incomprehension, going so far as to declare: “You are the hostage of the National Rally”. Following the broadcast of this exchange, Cyril Hanouna took the opportunity to extend an invitation to the Head of State and even suggested that Emmanuel Macron come to the TPMP set to answer the French people’s questions directly.

It was in this context that the show finally addressed the subject that would generate the most reactions on X: the case opposing Kylian Mbappé to Paris Saint-Germain. The dispute, which is turning into a long-running legal battle, concerns 55 million euros in unpaid debts that the Professional Football League (LFP) ordered PSG to pay to Kylian Mbappé. Given the club’s refusal to pay this sum, the case could continue before another jurisdiction.

To echo this news, TPMP has brought out a video archive, dating from several months before the official announcement of Kylian Mbappé’s departure from PSG, in which the player explained that everything was settled with PSG and in particular its president, Nasser al-Khelaïfi. After the broadcast of this video, the columnists gave their opinions on the deadlock situation. Géraldine Maillet notably spoke of a “catastrophic” situation which does not help either party before discussing the player’s performances: “He hasn’t been really good for a while”. Cyril Hanouna added: “If he is catastrophic at Real, you will see very quickly, it will quickly go to pot…”

These comments did not fail to provoke reactions from Internet users on X (formerly Twitter). Many expressed their discontent with what they perceived as the show’s bias against Kylian Mbappé. One user, @raspberrymuffin, denounced “Cyril’s harassment of Mbappé”, judging the attitude “ridiculous” and accusing columnist Hanouna of liking to “humiliate and believe himself superior”.

Others pointed out what they considered to be “Mbappé bashing”. @Chat__Teigne wrote: “Hanouna is going to do some more Mbappé bashing for his friend Nasser…”. Some Internet users also questioned the objectivity of the show, like @terminalose who wondered: “I have a hard time understanding Hanouna and TPMP’s relentlessness towards Mbappé…. if the show is used to serve PSG’s official PR, it has to be said. It’s awkward”.
