Deinze players refuse to face Cercle

Last week came the redeeming news for KMSK Deinze: the takeover by AAD Invest Group was completed and with it, the club seemed to be saved from bankruptcy. Peace seemed like it might return, but that is not the case at all.

Indeed, we learned on Tuesday that the players were refusing to train because their salaries had still not been paid. The new strongman Doudou Cissé had however promised to do so.

In Deinze, this information was described as “fake news”, but the Licensing Commission still deducted three points from the club due to unpaid invoices.

The players refuse to face the Circle

Barely a day later, the soap opera was already taking another turn. The Latest News reports that players are not yet reassured. On Wednesday, they carried out light collective training, but on Thursday, they do not intend to show up for the friendly match against Cercle de Bruges. This match is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Indeed, players do not want to risk getting injured when their future is uncertain. They signed a document stipulating that they will be paid by Thursday at the latest. If this is not the case, they have the right not to appear again.

The owners try to reassure

The group of players therefore seems to clash with the new board of directors, which however continues to affirm that it will find the necessary funds. Cissé claims to be supported by the investment funds Licorne Gulf and GEM.

The AAD Invest group itself only has an initial capital of 15,000 euros and is linked to a post office box in Luxembourg. We will therefore have to wait and see how the soap opera will unfold in the coming days, but Deinze’s recovery is clearly in trouble. It is therefore time for concern for the East Flanders club, its supporters and its players…..
