In addition to being physically weakened due to a bad cold, Carlos Alcaraz is exhausted at the end of the 2024 season. This is particularly what he confided at a press conference after his opening defeat against Casper Ruud on the Turin Masters.

“I dare say that all the players are mentally tired. If someone says it's fresh, they're lying (smile). Some players are doing better than others. I'm tired. I'm mentally tired. Obviously, there are a lot of matches, a very tight schedule, a very demanding year with few days off, few periods where we can rest, where we can train at home. It's a bit like if you finish a week or a tour, you only have two or three days off and then you have to go to other tournaments in other parts of the world. Since the beginning of the year, you have been accumulating hours and days. You arrive at this time of year tired. As I've said many times, I think this year I'm much better than last year, but I have to find a way to perform and play good tennis while being mentally tired. »
