David Coote, a well-known English referee on the pitch, was suspended indefinitely after the broadcast of a compromising video on his former iconic coach, Jürgen Klopp.
“Liverpool are rotten and Jürgen Klopp is a co****d and pretentious. So every match, I try to talk to him as little as possible,” he said bluntly. Words which quickly spread on social networks, sparking a wave of reactions and forcing football authorities to intervene.
The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), the body responsible for supervising Premier League referees, reacted quickly to this controversy. David Coote was suspended from all his functions during the investigation carried out by the PGMOL.
The 1 minute 14 video could well mark the end of Coote’s career. His behavior, in contradiction with the standards of impartiality required of a Premier League referee, now places the official’s future in limbo.
