Olivier Dumont is a regular on the bench at STVV and, at best, a replacement. During the home match against Mechelen, he started and did not disappoint.

Olivier Dumont had already shown promising signs recently, and in the absence of Ito, Mazzu did not hesitate to start him alongside Fujita. “Normally he can’t play as much, but this time he was excellent. He ran a lot and brought a lot to the team,” praised the Japanese midfielder.

“He gave us good momentum. It’s definitely different playing without Ito. When he’s by my side, we share the responsibilities: he concentrates on the attack, while I take care of the defense. With Dumont, we work as a duo in midfield, which strengthens our cohesion.” A dynamic that could well benefit STVV in the future.

Dumont not only stood out for his commitment and hard work, but also showed great technical qualities at times. While several of his young teammates have already distinguished themselves at STVV, the 22-year-old Belgian was still struggling to take a step forward. Maybe he’s finally ready to make his mark.

Another technical asset for STVV is Billal Brahimi. The Algerian was one of the main architects of the victory on Friday, but he also witnessed the great performances of his teammates. Ferrari, for example, produced a classy action by slaloming through the KVM defense to make it 1-0. “It was a really great goal. I’m very happy for him. He worked hard in training, and it’s paying off,” Brahimi commented.

Surrounded by players like Ferrari and Dumont, Brahimi feels the positive dynamic within the team. “It’s not a surprise, because we work together all week. It is essential to play well with all members of the group. After this victory, we pass several teams. Our goal is to stay away from the last four places so we can fully concentrate on our game.”
