Martin St-Louis seems determined to separate Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield for the clash with the Buffalo Sabres.

The head coach of the Montreal Canadiens had made this change the day before in the third period against the Toronto Maple Leafs and the same combinations were used in training on Sunday, held in Etobicoke, Ontario.

Suzuki was flanked by Kirby Dach and Juraj Slafkovsky, while Caufield patrolled the left wing with Jake Evans and Alex Newhook.

Another interesting element: Kaiden Guhle was skating on the left. The young left-footed defender has often been used on the right, and not on his natural side, since the start of the season.

This time, this delicate task was entrusted to Mike Matheson, who skated to the right of Guhle in the first pair.

The CH will try Monday afternoon to end a series of six losses, in Buffalo.
