The crowds were there in Les Sables d’Olonne! This Sunday, November 10, 2024, the start of the Vendée Globe takes place in the Vendée city. On this occasion, the 40 skippers who are embarking on a world tour pass through the channel to reach the high seas. And the least we can say is that the place was very busy this Sunday morning! A massive audience had in fact gathered, offering the sailors a real guard of honor before the moments of solitude.
Among the competitors, some brought out special outfits for the occasion. Damien Seguin was thus disguised as Captain Hook, a nod to his handicap, he who was born without a left hand. The other disabled skipper in this competition, Jingkun Xu, opted for a traditional Chinese costume, while the Japanese Kojiro Shiraish wore a samurai outfit, sword in hand.
