Algeria Football– Olympique de Marseille (OM) announced this Saturday the call-up of two young talents to join Morocco’s youth teams, news which has rekindled the enthusiasm of the Marseille club’s supporters. Ugo Lamare El Kadmiri and Jassim Waazane, two promising youngsters, will have the honor of representing the Sherifian kingdom on the international stage.
The first of them, Ugo Lamare El Kadmiri, is called up to the Morocco U18s. At only 17 years old and measuring 1m92, this young striker is causing a sensation this season with OM’s U19 team, where he has an impressive record of 4 goals in 6 matches. His imposing physique and style of play have earned him comparisons to star striker Erling Haaland. Born in France to a Swedish-Moroccan father and a French mother, Lamare El Kadmiri also spent part of his childhood in Morocco, which further strengthens his connection with the country. He will be a major asset for the Moroccan selection, which hopes to make him a centerpiece in the years to come.
The second player called up, Jassim Waazane, is a young striker born in 2009, who will join the Moroccan U16s. Although his career is still in its early stages, his selection demonstrates his potential and the confidence placed in him by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. His call-up to the national team is a clear sign of the promising future he embodies.
However, this announcement was not without controversy. The OM training center made a mistake by publishing a story on Instagram where the Moroccan flag was incorrectly represented. Instead of the green star which symbolizes the Sherifian kingdom, the Star of David, present on the flag of Israel, was used. This misstep immediately caused an uproar on social networks. OM quickly corrected its error by deleting the story and publishing a new version with the correct flag.
Despite this controversy, the main thing remains the future of the two young players and their potential on the field. OM, faithful to its reputation for training, continues to nourish the hopes of young talents like Lamare El Kadmiri and Waazane, who will be keen to shine at both club and international level.
