Top 14 – UBB: “everyone has a lump in their stomach” before the play-off against Racing

This week, after a big victory (40-7 against Oyonnax which allowed it to snatch 3rd place and rotate its squad, the UBB inserted the final phase diskette into its hard drive. More than discipline, roughness, precision and of course desire, but without changing anything in his philosophy.

There is no question of improving weak points, of working on things that we have not mastered this seasonassures manager Yannick Bru. On the contrary, we must show our DNA, what we are, and do it as best as possible with the greatest dose of confidence. This is how, in my experience, we have performed well each time in the final phase.

15 final phase matches in 5 years

The rich experience of the former player and coach at Stade Toulousain (five Brennus and three European Cups) but also that of a group which played 15 final phase matches in five years and which this season left its mark with authoritarian victories against Toulouse or La Rochelle. So, it’s true, the UBB has sometimes fallen into the easy way, often due to lack of commitment, but it will move up, assures performance director Thibault Giroud.

When you know that Monday you can be on vacation… I think everyone has a feeling of knot in their stomach. We have it. You know very well that you play in Bordeaux, that you have a midfield prospect in Bordeaux. If you don’t have the level of commitment in the final phases which should be the level of commitment of everyone, it seems impossible to me.

Impossible to miss this meeting. The UBB has grown and must continue to break a new glass ceiling: playing a first Top 14 final.
