The Blues won their first test match of their November tour against Japan (52-12). But the French also lost Théo Attissogbe and Thibaud Flament to injury. The young winger, a surprise starter to replace Damian Penaud, injured his left knee at the end of the match, as coach Fabien Galthié confirmed at a press conference. The second row, for his part, complained about the iliac crest.
Dream evening for the Blues, who outclassed a very weak Japanese team (52-12). Antoine Dupont’s teammates had a perfect reunion with their Stade de France crowd by scoring eight tries, offering a promising offensive festival for the rest of the tour and the upcoming clash against the All Blacks.
Unfortunately, the Habs also have to heal some wounds after this first meeting of the fall. At a press conference, Fabien Galthié spoke of the physical concerns of two of his players: Théo Attissogbe and Thibaud Flament. The coach was more worried about his young winger, potentially out for next weekend against New Zealand.
“The most affected is Théo (Attissogbe). It would be a lateral sprain (inner knee), which he has already had twice. He wasn’t worried. He may be out for this week.”
We didn’t want to take any risks
Concerning the second line of Stade Toulouse, Fabien Galthié announced a problem at the “iliac crest” (the tip of the hip, Editor’s note). However, the former scrum-half was rather reassuring: “We didn’t want to take a risk.”
For comparison, even if the degree of nature is not yet known, Thomas Ramos was injured in the iliac crest bone on March 24 against Union Bordeaux-Bègles in the Top 14. He had found the competition three weeks later against Exeter. An example which is not really reassuring regarding the participation of the French number 4 in the clash against the All Blacks, next week at the Stade de France.
