The top scorer in the history of Olympic Nîmes died on Saturday November 9, 2024. Hassan Akesbi, who wore the Crocs jersey between 1955 and 1961, died at the age of 89 following a long disease. With 119 goals in 204 matches, his name remains in the club’s legend.

Of Moroccan origin

Born in 1935 in Tangier, Morocco, Hassan Akesbi wore the Crocs jersey in 1955 for the first time. On the field, he plays with Henri Skiba, with Bernard Rahhis. Talented center forward, he played in two Coupe de finals. When he left the Nîmes club in 1961, he left behind a goals record that has never been broken since.

He put on the Stade de jersey before switching to that of AS Monaco. At the end of the 1960s, Hassan Akesbi returned to play in Morocco where he was already an icon of the national team. He retired at the age of 35. It was as a coach that he subsequently tried his hand, without ever experiencing the same success.

He will be buried in Morocco on Sunday November 10, 2024.
