Tanner Jeannot of the Los Angeles Kings has been suspended three games by the National Hockey League.
The Department of Player Safety announced its decision early Friday evening.
Jeannot punched Brock Boeser of the Vancouver Canucks in the head on Thursday.
The Canucks forward was in the neutral zone when he made a pass. While he was no longer in possession of the puck, Boeser was hit in his blind spot by Jeannot and the Canucks player fell to the ice after contact with his head.
It took Boeser a few moments before leaving with the help of the trainer. The play occurred midway through the first period. The organization announced in the middle period that the attacker would not return to the game during this match. So far this season, Boeser has 11 points in as many games.
Officials were quick to announce that Jeannot was expelled from this clash. The 27-year-old striker already had 21 penalty minutes on his clock before the match.
Under the terms of the collective agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Jeannot will lose an amount of $41,640.63.
This amount will be donated to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
Sprong returns to Seattle
Furthermore, the Canucks announced in the evening that they had traded winger Daniel Sprong to the Seattle Kraken in return for future considerations.
Sprong’s time in Vancouver was therefore brief, as he signed a one-season, $975,000 contract on July 20.
The 27-year-old right-hander has appeared in nine games this year, recording one goal and two assists.
In Seattle, the forward player of German origin will reconnect with a team he knows well. It evolved there at the end of the 2021-2022 calendar and for the entire 2022-2023 calendar.
Sprong has 162 points (86 goals and 76 assists) in 353 games in the NHL.
“Hopefully this will give us a little boost to get things moving in the right direction,” Kraken general manager Ron Francis said.
The Kraken are trying to revive their offense after losing nine of their first 14 games.
“Obviously we’ve been struggling to score goals lately, so we’ve been thinking about that,” Francis added. He knows our team, our locker room. We thought it was a low-risk bet. »
In 82 games with the Kraken, Sprong amassed 27 goals and 25 assists.
A second-round pick (46th overall) of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2015, Sprong played four years for the Charlottetown Islanders in the QMJHL.
