At the end of his contract at Racing 92, full-back/flyhalf Tristan Tedder will return to Aimé-Giral two years after leaving him. He signed up for two seasons.
This has been in the works for a while. Now it's done. The USAP has approved the signing of a major reinforcement for next season. And he is a player who knows the house well.
Indeed, full-back/flyhalf Tristan Tedder (28 years old, 1.80 m, 88 kg), at the club from 2021 to 2023 (47 matches, 11 tries), returns to Aimé-Giral for the next two years after a freelance at Racing 92, marked by a good first season (28 matches, 18 starts and 5 tries), the current one having not yet started for the South African, injured in the shoulder. At the end of his contract next June and helmed by Owen Farrell, Antoine Gibert, Sam James and Max Spring at Racing, the South African chose to bounce back at USAP despite requests from other Top 14 clubs. Bayonne and Castres were particularly present. But it is Perpignan which was favored by its best player for the 2022-2023 season.
In Catalonia, Tristan Tedder will find a club he knows well and a close friend, James Hall. Above all, he will bring an additional versatile profile to the back line of Franck Azéma's squad. With Tommaso Allan, Antoine Aucagne and Jake McIntyre, Tristan Tedder will be one of the leaders of the Catalan game and one of the scorers for this team. A real additional asset for the USAP with a player who has proven that he can make his team shine, whether with the blood and gold jersey, but also with Racing when the latter was struggling in the middle of last season.
Ongoing discussions with other players
The South African will therefore join the USAP from the summer of 2025 until June 2027. Tristan Tedder is the first recruit for the 2025-2026 season of the Catalan club. While waiting for others… Indeed, other files are currently being discussed. Olympic Midday evokes very advanced contacts between the USAP management and Mattéo Le Corvec (23 years old, 1.92 m, 113 kg), third row of Toulon, passed through the USAP youth teams. Information that we are able to confirm even if, for the moment, nothing has been completely agreed between the club and the clan of the son of Grégory Le Corvec, former USAP player from 2001 to 2012.
The USAP therefore continues to prospect profiles who know the Top 14, combining youth, experience and, above all, love of the jersey. As for the experienced players, the name of Peceli Yato (31 years old, 1.96 m, 120 kg) is still on the discussion table for next season. The third line of Clermont with 171 matches is at the end of his contract next June and continues to interest the Catalan staff and Franck Azéma, who knew him at ASM and with whom he won a Brennus. Negotiations therefore continue mainly for next season. The prospect of a medical joker is no longer the priority for the moment, even if the club remains attentive to the opportunities that present themselves on the market.
