Dijon Football Côte d’Or (DFCO) crosses a period of major restructuring under the direction of Pierre-Henri Deballon, its new owner since last July. Since the acquisition of the club playing in National and according to our daily colleagues Les Echosthe new president undertook a fairly strict savings plan to restore the club’s finances, currently in deficit.
Towards a reduction in workforce
One of the measures of this plan: the significant reduction in workforce. The club, which until now had 160 employees across all branches, plans to lay off 50% of its staff administrative, which would represent around ten people. This decision is part of a desire to rationalize the club’s operating costs, while maintaining an annual budget of 15 million euros.
As for the sports teams, the payroll of the men’s team has already been reducedreduced from 2 million to 1.3 million euros hors charges. The women’s teamwhich plays in D1 Arkema (the highest championship in France, editor’s note), is also affected by these budgetary adjustments. With an operating deficit of more than 500,000 euros, the club aims to restore the financial balance of this section before the end of the season, failing to find a new investor.
Ideas to supplement club income
To compensate for these reductions, the DFCO explore new sources of income. The Gaston Gérard stadium and the performance center, owned by the City of Dijon, could be rented for non-sporting events : shows, seminars and conferences could then be held there.
Despite these major operations to come, Pierre-Henri Deballon remains optimistic about the club’s futurewhile emphasizing the maintenance of 90% of partnerships and sponsors. In addition, attendance at the stands was a 10% increasetestifying to the ever-present support of the supporters.
