Aznou came on in the 80th minute, replacing Canadian international Alphonso Davies, becoming the youngest starter in Bayern history. In eleven minutes, the young 18-year-old defender showed that he deserves his place in the Bavarian squad, contributing to his club’s victory against Union Berlin (3-0). Coach Vincent Kompany is satisfied with the young player’s performance. “Adam has been excellent in training and with the team. He can be proud of himself. Now he simply has to continue working,” he confided after the meeting.

For his part, Adam Aznou expressed his joy at having made his debut in the Bundesliga. “There is no better way to make my debut than at the Allianz Arena in front of our fans… Very happy to have played my first minutes in the Bundesliga. Thank you to the coach for putting his trust in me and thank you for all the messages I received,” he wrote on the social network Atlas like Achraf Hakimi, Abdelhamid Sabiri and Chadi Riad, who commented on its publication. Bayern sporting director Max Eberl also congratulated Aznou on his debut, praising the left-back’s “immense talent”.

Born in Barcelona, the 18-year-old is a pure product of La Masia, Barça’s academy, where he played alongside Lamine Yamal. He joined Bayern in 2022 where he has enjoyed a meteoric rise. Aznou will only spend one season with the under-17 team before joining the U-19s. With this team, he revealed the extent of his talent, scoring three goals and providing four assists in 19 matches. At the age of 17, he took part in a friendly match with the first team. It was last January against FC Basel (1-1). On May 15, 2024, Aznou signed his first professional contract with Bayern until 2027.

Aznou also shines in the Moroccan selection. The left back was summoned by Walid Regragui in September for the first legs against Gabon and Lesotho, counting for the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations (CAN) Morocco 2025. “We summoned him so that he begins to adapt with the group and show them that we have confidence in them for the future,” explained the Moroccan technician. Aznou made his debut with the Moroccan team on September 9 against Lesotho (1-0), becoming at 18 years and 99 days the youngest starter for the Atlas Lions, ahead of Jaouad Zaïri.
