Algeria Football– The Karma of the King of Morocco seems visibly to fall on the player Hakim Ziyech, who had recently tackled the Moroccan government for normalization with Israel. After his exclusion from the Moroccan EN, he has just received another bad news.
Mohamed Salah continues to make history in the Champions League. Tuesday evening, during Liverpool’s resounding 4-0 victory against Bayer Leverkusen, the Egyptian striker once again demonstrated his importance. Author of two assists, he is approaching the top of the best African passers in the Champions League, overtaking stars like Riyad Mahrez and Hakim Ziyech.
Salah, who had just scored Liverpool’s winning goal against Brighton in the league, shone again on the European stage. From the start of the match, he showed his commitment and his influence, before offering a first assist to Cody Gakpo, in the 63rd minute. On a perfectly adjusted cross, he allowed his Dutch teammate to find the fault with his head, after validation of the VAR. Then, at the end of the match, he did it again by delivering another cross for Luis Diaz, who deceived the opposing goalkeeper with a precise gesture. These two passes allow Salah to bring his total of assists to 17 in the Champions League.
By reaching this figure, Salah overtook Hakim Ziyech and Riyad Mahrez, respectively authors of 15 and 16 assists in the Champions League. But the Egyptian now has another record in his sights: that of Samuel Eto’o, the Cameroonian holding the highest number of assists for an African in this competition, with 20 offerings. Just three points short of this record, Salah could well beat it by the end of this season, thus consolidating his status as a legend of African football.
Already the top African scorer in Champions League history, Salah is on his way to also becoming the top passer, a rare performance for a striker. Furthermore, in the Premier League, he is also recognized as the best African scorer and passer of all time, having contributed to numerous victories for Liverpool. If Salah manages to match or surpass Eto’o, he will reach a height never reached by any other African player, proving once again that he is one of the best ambassadors of African football on a global level.
