Unexpected farewell for Zeno Debast in Portugal: “It’s difficult” – Tout le football

Sporting Portugal experienced an evening full of emotions. The team beat Manchester City 4-1 and took leave of coach Ruben Amorim.

Rarely has a coach who left during the season been entitled to such an enthusiastic farewell: but Ruben Amorim has left his mark on the history of Sporting Portugal. This 4-1 victory against Manchester City is a final match worthy of what it represents for the club. What’s more, against the great rival of Manchester United, which he will join in the coming days.

Before the meeting, a tifo was deployed to recall the two Portuguese championship titles and the two Cups won under his command. Zeno Debast thus sees the man who brought him to the club leave.

Already coveted this summer

“I only worked with him for three months. It’s difficult to let him go, but that’s life. He’s an exceptional coach and we’re happy for him,” said the Red Devil, in comments relayed by Het Laatste Nieuws.

Debast is not entirely clear on the opening score of Phil Foden but recovered: “This victory feels really good. We could have done better on the goal we conceded, but what we did afterwards was fantastic.”

“In the second half we felt this energy, tonight we are going to party. Then we have to concentrate again and stay grounded,” he concluded.
