The results produced by Caen Basket Calvados players since the start of the season have been more than impressive. Now at the 7ᵉ position of the ranking of Pro Bthe promoted Norman proves to his adversaries that he is in his place at this national level.
The figures bear this out: seven victories in 11 matches, including five at the Palace and two away now. Pau (76-85) is the latest victim after meeting this Tuesday November 5, 2024.
“We absolutely had to lock down defensively”
Stéphane Eberlin, CBC coach: “We had a game plan and I wouldn’t say we didn’t follow it in the first half, but we left a little too much space offensively to our opponent. In particular, we let certain rebounds pass which could have been avoided. At the break, I told the players that it was absolutely necessary that we lock defensively and we don’t let them score anymore. We had lost too many balls in the fast play, but once we got back to level and had a little lead, it finally started again.
What we did is in line with what we produced at Saint-Chamond, with mastery and strong defense. We managed to reproduce these efforts and we played offensively with our heads. On arrival, we only lost 13 ballswhich is a very good thing. This victory is very satisfying, facing a formidable opponent against whom it was not easy. I said before the match that we had to put pressure on them.
Pau absolutely had to win this match, so we said to ourselves that if we held on until the end, they would have pressure in the last minutes. It seemed to have worked because they made a few small mistakes at the very end of the match which we were able to exploit behind. The team is in good shape and this bodes well for the future. The objective is to continue on this path. »
