The first national and international edition of sport fishing “ Surf casting No kill » was closed in Dakhla on Saturday November 2.
This edition which began on October 18 was marked by the participation of several big names in the discipline from Italy, Tunisia, Mauritania, Turkey, Greece and Morocco.
This sporting event combines both sporting excellence and respect for the environment. By adopting the ‘No kill’ rule, a practice consisting of returning captured fish to the water alive, this event contributes to the preservation of the region’s marine ecosystem.
It had two rounds: the first was open to national competitors with a view to qualifying for the final stages which saw the entry of foreigners.
Among the Ladies, the Moroccan Maria Benjelloun finished first with 679 points with the capture of 15 fish, followed by the Tunisian Inès Ajmi and the Greek Conistantiou Ernie.
Among the Gentlemen, the prize went to the Italian Guidi Zefferino with a score of 1457 points and the capture of 32 fish, followed by the Turk Ergan Hassan Kourchad with 1108 points and the capture of 26 fish and the Moroccan Fethi Bouajjaj with a score of 1034 points and the capture of 21 fish.
Another distinction went to Moroccan Abdelaziz Lazrak who captured the largest fish measuring 50 centimeters.
The awards ceremony was marked by the presence of several personalities including the President of the Regional Council and President of the Organizing Committee who declared that the organization of such an international event responds to the Vision of HM King Mohammed VI to make the Dakhla Region a development pole for the southern provinces at the economic, cultural and sporting levels.
It should be noted that this first edition was organized by the Provincial Tourism Council and with the support and in partnership with the Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP).
