Handball-Regional Ladies Championship / Final Four Final: Successful heist of Yeumbeul on Sacré Coeur (27-24) for its first regional title

XALIMANEWS-After years of struggle, Yeumbeul finally achieved her goal: becoming champion of the Dakar region. Semi-finalists in 2022, beaten by Sacré Coeur, then finalists in 2023 against UCAD, the Braqueuses finally triumphed by stripping Sacré Coeur (27-24) this Saturday.

Finally the Braqueuses, left empty-handed for a long time, have succeeded in mastering this time, after repeated failures. Anta Badiane and his gang, very well prepared this Saturday, made a great acquisition with the regional trophy.

Under the direction of coach Fallou Ndiaye, Yeumbeul triumphed over its eternal rival, Sacré Coeur, coached by Khalifa Abdoul Aziz Diouf. This match, officiated brilliantly by Mame Ngor Seck and Momo Gaye, offered a captivating final between two teams full of talent, captivating the enthusiastic audience of the Amadou Barry stadium, which was packed on Saturday, November 2.

The meeting started with a bang, under the chants of Yeumbeul supporters. Khady Diop opened the scoring (1-0), followed by a quick response from Fatou Diop who scored twice in a row to put Sacré Coeur in the lead (2-1). Anta Badiane quickly equalizes (2-2), and a back-and-forth ensues with successive ties, but Yeumbeul takes the advantage (3-2, 3-3, 4-3, 5-3, 6-5) , even widening the gap to 3 goals (8-5). The Whites react with a 3-0 to return to equality (8-8), but determined, the Greens conclude the first period with a score of 15-11, thanks to Atta Dia, Anta Badiane and Coumba Sarr, all credited with 4 goals. Fatou Diop also stands out with 5 achievements.

In the second half, Sacré Coeur came back with force, reducing the gap to 3 goals (15-12). The teams exchange blows, Sacré Coeur equalizes (20-20) then goes in front (21-20), supported by their goalkeeper Adama Dia. But Yeumbeul does not let himself be defeated and, by adding a dose of aggression, regains control (22-21) and widens the gap to 4 goals (25-21). In the crucial moments, Sacré Coeur finally gave in, and Yeumbeul finally won with a difference of 3 goals (27-24), thus realizing its dream of regional title for the first time in its history. Anta Badiane’s team succeeds UCAD, after two consecutive victories over Sacré Coeur during the Final Four.
