FC Barcelona dominated its rival Espanyol (3-1) on Sunday, thus consolidating its leadership position during the 12th day of La Liga.
European champion Dani Olmo launched his team in the 12th minute by taking a superb pass from Catalan prodigy Lamine Yamal (1-0) with a superb outside foot. The Barcelona summer recruit then sealed the Blaugrana domination with a precise strike from the edge of the area (31st, 3-0).
A few minutes earlier, the Brazilian Raphinha, in great form this season, had doubled the lead on a serve from the young Marc Casado (23rd, 2-0), thus scoring his fifth goal in three matches, his seventh in La Liga.
With a three-goal lead at half-time, Barça relaxed slightly, allowing Espanyol to reduce the gap with a great collective action concluded by Javi Puado (63rd, 3-1), after two goals canceled for offside (28th, 58th).
Barça (1st, 33 points) temporarily takes a nine-point lead over its rival, Real Madrid (2nd, 24 points), whose match in Valencia was postponed due to the floods which affected the region this week.
Both teams observed a minute’s silence before kick-off in tribute to the victims of this tragedy.
