USCV fell in the quarter-finals of the French championship. The adventure ends there, at the Gaston Sauret stadium in Saint-Sulpice-sur-Lèze. The Greens and Yellows led almost the entire match, but in the final moments, Masseube crucified them with two counterattacks and as many tries, to finally win by a score of 26 to 16.
We could regret some contrary decisions, we think of the very severe expulsion and the returned penalty, of this blatant two-man tackle which led to the Gersois’ last try. However, this would be unwelcome because the opponent was valiant and deserves his victory. It was fifty-fifty and the coin fell on the wrong side.
We should congratulate this entire group and its management, it was built over the course of the season with the contribution of some SCA players who brought their technique, their physique and their state of mind. Even if the pill is hard to swallow for the Critolo-Verniollais, the path has been superb: qualification in the Occitanie championship, already taken out by Masseube, departmental title with victory in the local shield, and to complete access to the quarter final of the French championship.
Sunday evening, for the closing of Fiest’ovalie, many friends of the club came to give them their support. The rugby festival enlivened La Tour-du-Crieu for three days. Even if it is a little early to draw a definitive assessment, we can say that it was a great success.
