The RAAL was trailing at the break against RFC Liège. In the second half, however, the Wolves reversed the trend in just a few minutes!
Undefeated in the league since September 22, FC Liège lost this evening on the lawn of a RAAL which is definitely in great form since it remains on three consecutive victories and is tied with RWDM in the standings.
The first half was played at a senatorial pace, the RAAL being quickly hit by the injury of its defensive rock Wagane Faye (15th), replaced by Corneillie. This is perhaps what explains the excitement of the Wolves behind: Da Silva takes the back of the defense and dribbles Peano poorly, his shot must be released by Maisonneuve on the line (22nd).
The RAAL tries to create chances but pushes very clumsily: Bongiovanni is not very inspired, nor are Guindo and Nagera at the finish. Only Ito touches the post with an almost disappointed shot (36th). Worse: it was after a very strong time in Louviers that Arslan played with his physical man and served Flavio Da Silva at the far post (45th+2, 0-1).
La Louvière, however, returns to the field like a bullet. It’s only for the Wolves who push: Bongiovanni sees his shot blocked (61st), but ultimately Mohamed Guindo is at the receiving end of a rather confusing phase (63rd, 1-1). Not even time to get over itAdrien Bongiovanniagain following a mix-up, makes 2-1.
Mohamed Belkheir will then score the goal of the evening: with a magnificent strike, he clears Lejoly’s top corner and makes the break (3-1, 69th). Transfigured, the RAAL made the difference in ten minutes against a paralyzed Liégeois. The same Belkheir, mounted with incredible ease, forces Lejoly to intervene with another big shot (84th). He will again come close to the double at the very end of the match after yet another little solo number (90th + 2).
Liège will not return, and the RAAL wins its third consecutive match. The Wolves are tied for first with the RWDM (23 points): a performance well beyond expectations at this stage of the competition!
