FC Sion is now 9 consecutive matches without a victory in the Super League. Didier Tholot’s players nevertheless obtained a draw (1-1) on the pitch of FC St-Gall, who for their part have not won any of their last 6 league matches.
This meeting started with a hard blow for the Brodeurs, their Friborg striker Felix Mambimbi having to be replaced due to injury after only 6 minutes of play. This change, however, did not have too much impact on the St. Gallen offensive. Heinz Lindner thus managed 2 decisive saves on attempts by Chadrac Akolo, with his foot in the 20th and a tap in the 37th. The Austrian finally gave in in the 54th minute, Akolo taking a cross from Lukas Görtler (54th) on the edge of offside.
Sion, who only had one opportunity before the break on a shot from Dejan Djokic repelled by Zigi (27th), knew how to react perfectly. The simultaneous entries of Dejan Sorgic and Ilyas Chouaref in the 60th gave new impetus to the Sédun attack.
Kabacalman equalizes from the penalty spot
A hand fault committed by Mihailo Stevanovic a few seconds after coming into play gave FC Sion a penalty which Ali Kabacalman transformed without trembling for 1-1 (69th). The two teams then sought to win the entire stake, but the efficiency was not there in the last 20 minutes. And it is logical that St-Gallois and Sédunois continue their series of failures.
