The match between the Gatineau Olympics and the Drakkar was stopped before the end of regulation time due to a scary injury that occurred in the third period.

According to what was reported by Cogeco, Olympic defenseman Justin Blais hit his head on the ice following a fight with Raoul Boilard. The 17-year-old then convulsed on the icy surface.

The injured hockey player was quickly treated by medical staff from both teams. He came off the ice on a stretcher and regained consciousness.

“Justin Blais was transported as a precaution to a local hospital to undergo additional examinations. He is alert and responsive,” the Olympic organization said on its X account after the match.

The referees then decided to end the game. There was a little more than two minutes left in the third period and the score was 8 to 2 in favor of the Drakkar.

Blais is currently playing his second season in the Maritimes Quebec Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He was a second round pick (27e in total) of the Olympics in the 2023 draft. The Port-Daniel native has amassed two goals and as many assists in 12 games so far in 2024-2025.
