The Périgourdins had thought they had done the hardest part when, once again, their pack put the Carcassonne pack at fault, Friday November 1st. There were two minutes left in regulation time and Anderson Neisen was offered the winning penalty, from around fifteen meters barely shifted to the right of the posts.
But, the fly-half and Capiste captain sent the ball to the right post, missing the third of his seven attempts in the evening. The unfortunate man was obviously dejected at the final whistle, which the Audois welcomed as a deliverance because they had not been able to break through a defensive curtain which was reduced to 13 units at the end of the match.
Tawake expelled
After less than ten minutes in the second half, a seemingly innocuous collision at the end of the scrum was punished with a yellow card on each side by the referee. The sanction fell on Kalivati Tawake (49th), already excluded in the first period (13th) for a high tackle. For the second time after the match in Langon, CAP saw red.
Carcassonne did not take long to take advantage, with a devastating maul, a sort of copy and paste of the first local try (14-9, 54th). Then, the yellow and black insisted on getting the offensive bonus point. It never came, the fault of their clumsiness, the Perigord counterattack in touch and the self-sacrifice of the Capiste defense, which held its position.
Didier Casadéi was hoping for an honorable result and a better performance than last season (21-0). The Périgord manager was heard with this point, a small consolation but one that not everyone will take at the foot of the citadel.
Successful debut
He also wanted to see his players make a good start to the match. On this point, he can be satisfied. The sky and white (in red for the occasion) achieved the perfect match in occupying the field, constantly sending the Audois back to their camp. Dominant in the scrum, they also showed more commitment, which allowed them to recover penalties.
Neisen took the opportunity to put his team in the lead (0-6, 22nd). Initially opportunistic, the Périgourdins imposed their rhythm on the sometimes distraught Carcassonnais before falling into approximations themselves.
The defensive bonus point gleaned nevertheless leaves the CAP in the qualifying wagon before hosting Narbonne on Saturday November 9 (3:30 p.m.).

We were at least equal with this Carcassonne team and, at the end, we still did well because we were in a situation where the referee gave us a red. The players were admirable, heroic and we should have won the match. At 20 meters facing the posts, we do not take the penalty but the players showed admirable courage. We were consistent on all the important factors of rugby, but we have to score the points. We are not paid for our efforts. These are points that we will miss. »
