There is a scent of passion there. At the entrance, in the voice of the volunteers, in the stands or around the refreshment bar. A furious desire for Rugby, despite the rain of this Saturday evening in October. “It’s always a pleasure to see these people, even if it’s raining.”notes one of the co-presidents of US Casteljaloux (USC), Bernard Tejada. “You really have to want it to come to the stadium today.”
Between the drops, a few hundred of them passed through the gates of the Stade de Lirac to applaud their Cadets de Gascogne against Soustons in Fédérale 2.
This season, the objective is clear: to qualify for the final stages, which they narrowly missed last year. A necessity for the Casteljalousain workforce, according to the president: “I hope we can finish in the top six and bring out the flags in the spring.”
To achieve these ambitions, 15 new young recruits complete the two squads of Fédérale 2 and Fédérale B. With one credo: to bring back trained players to the club. “We have around sixty seniors, including more than thirty who sleep in Casteljaloux. And that’s a source of pride”, lance Bernard Tejada.
He and the USC management team cultivate this attachment to the local area. Including in the choice of partners. In each of them the red and white culture is reflected: “There is always at least one person who has played, participated or still participates in the life of the club.”
120 years is not nothing! We are one of the oldest clubs in France.”

A golden rule that has lasted for 120 years. And this despite a merger with Marmande, in the 2010s: “Everything didn’t go as we would have liked, but we kept good memories of this agreement.explains Bernard Tejada. Before adding: “Even if we were very happy to come back to Casteljaloux.”
Since then, fans have continued to flock to support the USC teams, which has more than 300 members. Along the refreshment bar, Romain echoes: “Here, it’s a real little family.”
