An awards ceremony at the INSEE premises in Nantes:
Sixteen first and final year students from four academy high schools and their teacher (in mathematics or economic and social sciences) were welcomed during the awards ceremony at the INSEE premises in Nantes. The ceremony took place in the presence ofAnnie Forveille, deputy general secretary which represented the academy rector Katia Béguindisciplinary inspectors,Arnaud Degorre And Jean-Luc Tavernierrespectively regional director And general manager from the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee).
The theme of the competition echoed the news of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games which will begin in a few weeks: “ the physical and sporting practices of the French “. This competition gives participants the opportunity, in teams, to confront those of 19 other countries and of strengthen their statistical culture. It also allows you to prepare for Grand Oral of the baccalaureate.
The six academic winning teams:
– Carcouët High School (Nantes), 2 teams;
– Lycée Lavoisier (Mayenne), 2 teams;
– Racan High School (Montval-sur-Loir), 1 team;
– Rosa-Parks High School (La Roche-sur-Yon), 1 team.
An action to encourage vocations:
The high school students received congratulations from representatives of the rectorate and INSEE, as well as books and prizes. They had the opportunity todiscuss with statisticians about their careers and their profession. Enough to perhaps spark vocations.
The European Statistics Competition is organized by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, and twenty national statistical institutes. INSEE manages the French tests.
In our region it participates in actions implemented within the framework of the partnership agreement which has linked the Nantes academy and INSEE Pays de la Loire for three years. The collaboration aims in particular to support the dissemination of the economic and social culture as well as the proper use of statistical information among students and teachers.
