the essential
“La Jalabert” is one of the most popular cyclosportives among those competed in the south of France. This year it will take place on Sunday September 22.

This will be the 22nd edition of this gathering which has become essential. The UVM team has put together a magnificent program with continuity in a proven formula but also new routes and cycling activities.

The big news of the year will be the arrival of the three main circuits at the top of Pic de Nore. Like every year, a hearty and friendly meal will close the day of cycling and the awards ceremony will highlight the best in each category.

The event also becomes united this year! For each commitment, €1 will be donated to the Telethon. This event also counts for the regional cyclosportives trophy which has eleven dates. So the UVM invites you to “come in large numbers and long live cycling in Tarn and Aude.” Departures will take place at the Jardin des Promenades (avenue Albert-Rouvière) at 8:15 a.m. for the Laurent, 8:30 a.m. for the Nicolas, 8:45 a.m. for the Pitchoune, 8:47 a.m. for the E-Pitchoune and at 9 a.m. for the cycling and hiking.

The Laurent (from 18 years old) will be raced over 120 km with a positive altitude difference of 2,440 m. The Nicolas (from 17 years old) will race over 75 km with a positive altitude difference of 1,580 m and the Pitchoune (from 15 years old) and the E Pitchoune (electric bike version) will have a distance of 30 km and a positive altitude difference of 1,020 m. This last course will not be timed.

The route of La Laurent will pass through Labruguière, Escoussens, Pas du Sant, Arfons, Fontbruno, Les Martys, La Tourette, Salsigne and Cubserviès and will arrive at Pic de Nore. La Nicolas will take the same route but avoiding Arfons and Les Martys. La Pitchoune will take the factory road from Mazamet to arrive at Pic de Nore via Pradelles. The hike will be 40 km long and is open to all (accompanying children under 14 required). The hike to the Hautpoul footbridge is open to all (accompanying person under 10 years old required). The collection of bibs will take place at the Palais des Congrès de Mazamet (rue Jean-Assémat) on Saturday September 21 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday September 22 from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
